Last Saturday a 30 strong group of enthuseastic birders had the most enjoyable Birdlife outing led by Philip Peel. The group met at 9.00am at a location along Providence Gully Road in Yandoit Hills, on the western side of Rise and Shine Bushland Reserve. Philip Peel recorded a list of 45 species, see: http://ebird.org/ebird/australia/view/checklist/S30812203
The highlight would have to have been an Owlet Nightjar flushed by the groups presence and provided great views for a prolonged period.
After an hour searching this location the group moved on to the east side of Rise and Shine Bushland Reserve where highlights included Yellow-tufted Honeyeaters, Brown Treecreepers, White-throated Treecreepers, Jacky Winter, Scarlet Robin, Buff-rumped Thornbill and Varied Sitella.
